Movvin ("Movvin", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Movvin mobile application and the website at movvin.space (together, the "Service"). Movvin is a property rental platform that helps people discover rental properties near them, list properties, manage tenancies, and handle rent-related interactions.
This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you use the Service. By creating an account or using Movvin, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to make Movvin work for you. This falls into the following categories:
Account Information
Your name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and login credentials when you register.
Location Data
Approximate or precise device location, used to show rental properties near you and to position listings on the map.
Photos & Media
Property photos, cover images, and profile pictures you choose to upload from your camera or gallery.
Listing & Tenancy Data
Property details, units, rent, deposits, terms, and tenancy records you create or that relate to you as a tenant or landlord.
Payment Information
Your UPI ID and rent payment records. Payments are completed in your own UPI app — we do not store card numbers or bank passwords.
Usage & Device Data
App interactions, ratings you give or receive, device model, operating system version, and basic diagnostic logs.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of personal data such as biometric identifiers, government ID numbers, or health information.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide the Service — create and maintain your account, show nearby properties, and enable listings and tenancy management.
- Personalize your experience — surface relevant rentals based on your location and filters.
- Facilitate rent interactions — display payment options, record rent activity, and show ratings between landlords and tenants.
- Communicate with you — send notifications, service updates, and respond to your support requests.
- Keep Movvin safe — detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues.
- Improve the Service — understand how features are used so we can make Movvin better.
- Comply with the law — meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Device Permissions
Movvin requests certain device permissions to deliver core features. Each is optional in the sense that you control it through your device settings, though some features will not work without them.
- Location — to show rental properties near you and to set the location of listings you create. You can switch to manual area search if you prefer not to share location.
- Camera — to take photos of properties or your profile picture directly within the app.
- Photos / Storage / Media — to let you select and upload existing images from your device.
- Notifications — to alert you about tenancy updates, rent reminders, and important account activity.
- Internet / Network — required to load listings, sync your data, and operate the app.
You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings. Revoking a permission will only disable the features that depend on it.
Third-Party Services
Movvin relies on a small number of third-party services to function. These providers process limited data strictly to perform their service:
- Map & location providers — to render maps and convert coordinates into readable place names.
- UPI payment apps — when you pay rent, your chosen UPI app handles the transaction directly; Movvin receives only confirmation status, not your banking credentials.
- Hosting & storage providers — to securely store your account data and uploaded images.
These services have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data. We encourage you to review them where relevant.
Data Retention
We keep your personal information only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations, or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
Uploaded images and listings tied to a deleted account are removed as part of the deletion process.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), token-based authentication, access controls, and image size and type validation on uploads.
No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure. While we work hard to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your login credentials confidential and notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized access.
Your Rights & Choices
You have control over your information. Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information directly in the app or by contacting us.
- Delete your account and associated personal data.
- Withdraw consent for permissions like location, camera, or notifications through your device settings.
- Object or restrict certain processing of your data where applicable law provides this right.

Account & Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your Movvin account and personal data at any time:
- In the app — open the Account tab and use the account deletion option, if available in your version.
- By email — send a request from your registered email address to privacy@movvin.space with the subject "Delete My Account".
What happens when you delete
Your profile, listings, uploaded photos, and personal details are permanently removed, except for limited records we must retain by law. Deletion requests are typically processed within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.
Children's Privacy
Movvin is intended for adults and is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@movvin.space and we will take steps to delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Your continued use of Movvin after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
